Cinema Nova was established in 1992, and has grown to become one of the biggest independent cinemas in the southern hemisphere. An essential part of the Lygon Street scene, Cinema Nova is a part of Carlton's cultural fabric.

Public Transport

Cinema Nova is located within Lygon Court.

Tram routes 3/3a, 5, 16, 64, 67, 72 stop at Tram Stop #1: Melbourne University. From here, walk 300 metres east to Lygon Street.

Tram Routes 1 and 6 stop at Tram Stop #112: Corner Elgin and Lygon Streets. From here walk 100 metres south along Lygon Street.

Bus routes 200, 207, 250 and 251 stop at the corner of Lygon and Elgin Streets. From here walk 100 metres south along Lygon Street.

Car Parking

Free 2 hour parking is available in the Lygon Court Shopping Centre Car Park (accessible from Drummond Street, between Faraday and Elgin Streets. Present your cinema ticket when exiting. $3 hourly rate thereafter.

Paid parking is also available near the corner of Elgin and Lygon Streets behind Jimmy Watson’s wine bar, or behind the Clocktower complex, accessible from Drummond Street between Faraday and Grattan Streets. Metered street parking is also available.
